SAN ANDREAS, Calif. (KGO) -- Authorities are reporting that the Amber Alert issued Monday afternoon for a missing 14-year-old from San Andreas was a hoax.

Sergio Vazquez was reported missing just after 10 a.m. from a San Andreas gas station where he was seen with two other men getting into a white van with an unknown license plate, CHP officials said earlier Monday.

The teenager was later located at around 6:56 p.m. Monday in the Stockton area and was safe, according to officials.

Calavera's County sheriff detectives then obtained evidence that the abduction claim had been fabricated. One juvenile was taken into custody and has been turned over to Calaveras County Juvenile Probation.
