Great white shark rams into kayak
An encounter with a great white shark left large teeth marks on one woman's kayak

PLYMOUTH, MA -- Terrified, wet and shaking, Kristin Orr was able to call for help after what is believed to have been a great white shark knocked her out of her kayak.

"We're fine, but we're really scared," she told the operator of her and friend Ida Parker.

Moments earlier, the shark had rammed into the kayak, and the collision was so dramatic that it left large teeth marks and drove a hole through a paddle.

Here's their dramatic 911 call:

Orr said it left them even more shaken because there was no hint of the shark before the impact.

"It happened so fast, all of a sudden. I was talking to her (Parker) and next thing I'm the water, and I just see a shark, as close as you are to me," Orr told a reporter for WCVB, the Boston ABC affiliate.

Though Orr told the 911 operator that she was worried the shark might return, fortunately it didn't. The two began screaming for help, and a nearby kayaker and the Harbormaster eventually helped them back to shore.

The women told WCVB they could either laugh or cry about the incident, and now that they're safe, they're choosing to laugh.
