Fairfield residents asked to shelter in place, police respond to shots fired

FAIRFIELD, Calif. -- Police are asking residents in a Fairfield neighborhood to stay inside their homes Monday afternoon as they investigate reports of shots fired in the area.

Officers responded around 1:05 p.m. to multiple reports of shots fired in the 4900 block of Springwood Circle, according to police.

Police said officers arriving in the area heard more shots fired, possibly coming from a home.

The area of Springwood Circle, Summer Grove Drive and Northwood Drive was closed to all traffic as of 2 p.m., police said.

Police are asking residents to shelter in place until the incident is resolved.
