PLEASANTON, Calif. (KGO) -- The family of a fallen firefighter received a new car Friday afternoon. Jennifer Hobbs and her children got the keys to a Hyundai Sonata before the start of a golf tournament in Pleasanton to benefit Police and Fire: Fallen Heroes, a foundation that supports the families of firefighters and police officers who die in the line of duty.

Hobb's fiance, Cottonwood Fire Capt. Mark Ratledge died in February 2012, while responding to a car accident on Interstate 5 in Shasta County.

Since then, Hobbs says her oldest daughter has started college in Colorado and is studying to be a flight nurse.

"So it's been a struggle, I'm raising three kids on my own, so emotionally and financially it's very hard, so having a running vehicle for my daughter means a lot for us," Hobbs said.

Car West Auto Body and Mercury Insurance donated the car and a year of insurance coverage.
