FAIRFIELD, Calif. -- Fairfield firefighters are at the scene of a 2-alarm garage fire that spread to an adjacent home at 435 Tulip St Friday afternoon.

Battalion Chief Bob Stoffel said the fire started around 2:45 p.m. The detached garage was engulfed in flames and the fire spread to the main residence, both of which are a total loss, he said.

An occupant of the house was taken to a hospital, and two other people required medical attention, Stoffel said.

It's unknown if there were vehicles in the garage, Stoffel said.
