SEATTLE (KGO) -- The Bay Area family thrown from the duck boat tourist attraction in Seattle is telling their story.

A Fremont woman was on vacation in Seattle with her family, when the crash happened. She's still in a Washington state hospital.

It was supposed to be a weekend getaway for the Moody family to celebrate a relative's birthday. Instead, they are survivors of a Seattle crash that killed four foreign exchange students.

This is a crash that Greg Moody saw coming a split second before the impact.

"I heard him say, 'Oh no!' And I said, 'Uh, we're in trouble.' Then I saw us go right into the bus," Greg said.

Greg, his daughter Katie and his wife were sitting right behind the duck boat driver ready for a fun tour along Seattle's water front. Instead, it turned into a nightmare.

"It felt like we lost control and looked up and saw the bus headed toward us," Katie Moody said.

Just before impact, Greg tried to protect his wife Pat.

"I grabbed my wife and I just pushed her down and just held her, and I got thrown," Greg said.

He and his daughter were tossed out of the duck boat.

"I saw people running towards us from their cars to check on us. Everyone was actually really awesome. Some lady helped me find my mom," Katie said.

Her mom was still in the duck boat. She suffered a broken collar bone and is still in the hospital with her daughter.

She spoke to ABC7 News by phone from their neighbor's home in Fremont.

"They're thinking I may need surgery on my clavicle, but they're waiting to see," Pat said.

Greg had a few cuts to his face, but he has been released from the hospital. They're not sure when they will be back home.
