A gas leak has been capped in Danville after a car crashed into a home.

DANVILLE, Calif. (KGO) -- A gas leak caused by a car crash has been capped in Danville. The leak caused several homes to be temporarily evacuated in the neighborhood.

At 12:40 a.m. a car slammed into the home on Midland Way at Westridge Avenue. Firefighters said there was free flowing gas coming out of the line for almost three hours. There were about 15 people evacuated from six nearby homes. PG&E crews had to dig up around the home's property to try to find a place they could cut off the gas.

The driver was arrested and he was seen doing a sobriety test.
