MORGAN HILL, Calif. -- PG&E says they have capped a gas leak in Morgan Hill. A work crew using a backhoe to dig in the ground in the area of Tilton Avenue and Monterey Street struck the gas line at about 7 a.m. today, according to police Sgt. Carson Thomas.

Police evacuated a handful of homes and PG&E utility crews arrived at the scene around 8 a.m. to begin working on capping the leak, Thomas said. Those residents can now return to their homes.

Tilton Avenue was also closed to traffic while PG&E worked to make the repairs.
