GOOSE CREEK, S.C. -- A photo from a neighborhood in South Carolina is going viral.

A large alligator took a stroll around a neighborhood Thursday morning near Charleston.

Police warned people not to approach the gator, posting on the Goose Creek, S.C., Police Department's Facebook page, "residents in The Hamlets shared the sidewalk with this guy. If you see an alligator in your neighborhood, don't approach or attempt to handle them on your own. Our animal control officers will respond and determine the best course of action in these situations."

One woman shot a picture out of her front window. Animal control officers eventually responded.
