Lafayette transformer explosion causes road closure

LAFAYETTE, Calif. -- A transformer explosion Wednesday afternoon has caused the shutdown of a road in Lafayette, police said.

Police were dispatched to Hidden Valley Road just before 1 p.m.

Power in the area has been shut down and PG&E is investigating the explosion.

Hidden Valley Road is closed between Knox Drive and Crest Road until authorities have determined the area is safe, police said.

No injuries have been reported.
