Man who walked into burning home, rescued man speaks out
Tom Artiaga was a passerby who saw the flames as he was driving. Once he helped the man to safety, he left before anyone could thank or commend him for his selfless act.

FRESNO, Calif. -- It's the rescue video that's catching the attention of people across the country. A woman screams for someone to help her 73-year-old father out of a Fresno duplex that's gone up in flames.

"Number one my grandson, getting him out alive was the number one thing that I had to deal with. The second one, of course, was getting my father out,"said the victim's daughter Roberta Denise Francis.

Several people run in to help, until a hero puts his life on the line to help a stranger.

"I wasn't going fast enough so a guy picked me up and carried me out there," said Robert Wells. He was the man rescued from the fire.

Take a closer look before the explosion and you can see the mystery man as he casually stepped in -- a nameless hero until now.

"I was scared, you know, I'm sure anybody would be scared, you know, but it's a life, hey try to help him," said hero Tom Artiaga.

He was a passerby who saw the flames as he was driving. Once he helped the man to safety, he left before anyone could thank or commend him for his selfless act.

"It is a big deal but you got to help out people. It's what God put us here for," said Artiaga.

A humble man with a simple purpose, in the right place at the right time.
