Memorial held for Mendocino Co. deputy killed in shootout

NAPA, Calif. (KGO) -- A public memorial took place Wednesday for Mendocino County Sheriff's Deputy Ricky Del Fiorentino in Fort Bragg. He died during a shootout with a kidnapping suspect last week.

Del Fiorentino attended high school in Napa before spending 26 years working in law enforcement.

A Fort Bragg police officer shot and killed the gunman who murdered Del Fiorentino. That suspect was wanted for a string of crimes in Oregon and California.

Wednesay's storm grounded the flight that was supposed to carry Gov. Jerry Brown and Attorney General Kamala Harris to the memorial for the fallen deputy.
