Menlo Park police shot and killed a burglary suspect on Willow Road Tuesday afternoon.

MENLO PARK, Calif. (KGO) -- Evidence markers lined Willow Road in the affluent city of Menlo Park Tuesday after an officer-involved shooting took place. The shooting happened at about 12:50 p.m., according to police.

Menlo Park police say they got a call of a suspicious person in the area of Willow Place at 12:33 p.m. When they arrived they found a male suspect involved in a burglary in progress and a foot pursuit followed.

Police say they used a Taser device to stop the suspect, who then reportedly pulled out a gun. Officers then shot the man, who was pronounced dead at the scene by medics. The suspect's identity is unknown at this time.

According to the audio from police dispatch recordings released Tuesday, the man had a loaded firearm and fired on the officers.

One Menlo Park Officer was transported to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries related to the foot pursuit.
