Multiple grass fires burn along Interstate 580 in Oakland

OAKLAND, Calif. (KGO) -- Multiple fires along eastbound Interstate Highway 580 in Oakland are blocking two lanes of traffic this morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The fires were reported between Park Boulevard and Fruitvale Avenue shortly after 10:15 a.m., the CHP said.

The CHP is looking for witnesses of the fires and urging anyone who saw anything suspicious near I-580 this morning to call the CHP at (800) 835-5247.

As of 11 a.m., the fires seemed to be out, but there was heavy smoke in the area.

The cause of the fires remains under investigation.
