SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (KGO) -- There are new details on the former Cal Fire battalion chief suspected of killing his girlfriend.

Orville Fleming's estranged wife Megan says she received several texts from her husband begging to reunite, two days before authorities found 26-year-old Sarah Douglas strangled and stabbed to death in their Sacramento home.

She says the most disturbing message was the last one, sent just hours after Douglas' death. It reads: "You should have came and picked me up."

The manhunt continues in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Authorities say the 55-year-old Fleming is an expert outdoorsman and has access to back roads not open to the public because of his Cal Fire position.
