Pedestrian seriously injured after Walnut Creek hit-and-run

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- Police are continuing to investigate a Saturday night hit-and-run in Walnut Creek that left a pedestrian with life-threatening injuries.

Police said the pedestrian was walking at 6:43 p.m. at the intersection of Walnut Avenue and Hutchinson Trail in a residential area near the Ygnacio Canal Trail when a dark-colored SUV struck the person.

The SUV drove away following the crash.

Officers closed Walnut Avenue between Stonehaven and Naranja drives during the investigation.

Witnesses told police the SUV fled west on Walnut Avenue, but no other information on the driver or vehicle was available.
