Police searching for suspect accused of assaulting man and attempted robbery

PETALUMA, Calif. (KGO) -- Petaluma police are searching for a man accused of felony battery and attempted robbery.

Police responded to a report of an attack at a Motel 6 on North McDowell Blvd on Wednesday at 4:51 a.m. When police arrived, they found a 26-year-old-man who had suffered facial injuries and a broken arm after he was attacked.

Police say the suspect, Anthony Silva, 25, was known to the victim and they were trying to rent a room at Motel 6. When the victim was refused a hotel room by management, Silva became angry and began to hit and kick the victim. While the victim was on the ground, Silva attempted to take his wallet. Police say the suspect fled the scene before they arrived.

The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for his injuries.
