Renewed push to find Sierra LaMar gets help from SJ Sharks
Local sports stars, such as San Jose Sharks forward Logan Couture, are helping to renew the search for missing teenager Sierra LaMar.

MORGAN HILL, Calif. (KGO) -- The San Jose Sharks skated off the ice and right into Morgan Hill Wednesday night. They're helping in the search for missing teenager Sierra LaMar. Even though her body has never been found, police arrested a man and charged him with her murder.

Her family believes she was wearing a Sharks jersey when she vanished, so that's one reason the team got involved.

San Jose Sharks forward Logan Couture is one of the Sharks' leading scorers. But on Wednesday night, he scored points off the ice.

Sharks fan Samantha Lee said, "I think it means that he really cares about everyone around him and he's not just about himself."

"This has been something that I've followed very closely, and I thought it would be a good idea for our organization, the Sharks, to get involved," Couture said.

Couture and his teammates signed nearly 1,000 autographs to benefit the search for missing teen Sierra LaMar. She disappeared in Morgan Hill two years ago.

"My parents have always pushed giving back as much as you can," Couture said.

A line of fans stretched around the block. Everyone waited to meet the players and get their autographs for a $20 donation.

"Just out of the blue he called up the search center and said, 'This is Logan Couture and I just want to help however I can,'" Sierra's father, Steve LaMar, said.

"It helps us as a family to know that people are still concerned and they want to do what they can to keep our search center open," Sierra's mother, Marlene LaMar, said.

Six other players jumped on board.

"It's sad and it's tragic and we just wish the best for the family and all of our prayers are with them." Sharks defenceman Jason Demers said.

The Sharks players appeared at the event the night before the start of training camp. They have to be there at 7 a.m. sharp.

The Sharks raised about $11,000 in just three hours and pumped up the morale in a town devastated by the disappearance of Sierra LaMar.
