SAN FRANCISCO -- An armed robbery suspect has been detained after attempting to hide in a building in San Francisco's Bayview District this afternoon, a police spokesman said.

A report of a robbery with a gun came in at 12:34 p.m. and the suspect was seen running into a building in the 1300 block of Hudson Avenue near the Youngblood-Coleman Playground, police spokesman Officer Albie Esparza said.

Officers responded and set up a perimeter around the area, Esparza said.

The suspect was seen jumping out of a back window and officers chased after him and detained him, Esparza said.

As of 1:30 p.m., police were still at the scene searching the building for any other suspects. The area remains closed, he said.
