SAN JOSE (KGO) -- San Jose firefighters have knocked down a two-alarm fire that sent 35-to-40 foot flames shooting up on the 1000 block of Oakland Road. Firefighters will remain at the scene throughout the morning to monitor hotspots. The fire was first called in at 1:59 a.m. and brought under control at 5:08 a.m

Firefighters had to break through a gate to get inside the lumber yard and decided to fight the flames from the outside.

A fire captain said it is suspicious because of the time of day the fire started.

Workers at a nearby auto shop had to move their client's cars to keep them from being damaged. Firefighters don't believe anyone was injured.

Firefighters will be going through that pile of pallets, possibly bringing in some equipment to help with that, just so they can make sure that all the fire is out.
