SAN FRANCISCO -- San Francisco police are investigating an attempted abduction of a seventh grade student from outside St. Philip the Apostle Church.

The principal at Saint Philip the Apostle School says around 3:30 p.m. the student was walking in front of the church and felt someone behind him, running toward him.

The boy didn't know the man and felt uncomfortable and took action.

"He did everything right," Remy Everett, the school's principal, said. "He started to run. He started to scream. He headed to the Diamond Caf. He went with his guts."

The boy was traumatized but not physically hurt. The principal sent a letter to parents notifying them about the scare. Police are still looking for the man.
