An accident involving two speeding cars in San Jose ejects three people and kills one person.

SAN JOSE, Calif. (KGO) -- A young life lost in an instant. San Jose police blame alcohol and speeding.

One teen is dead, two others are injured after a high speed crash in San Jose. It happened early Saturdays morning. Police say two cars may have been racing.

"It sounded like something crashing into the wall of Rite Aide," said witness James Brown.

Brown heard the terrible crash around 3 a.m. after police say a speeding car slammed into a light pole, ejecting three teenage passengers. One hit the window of Rite Aide and died.

"So sad, when you hear of kids that age, and getting killed," said Doug Berg of San Jose.

Police say two cars were speeding, possibly racing on West Hillsdale Avenue. But when they approached Meridian Avenue, one of the drivers lost control and slammed into the light pole. Both drivers left the scene before police arrived.

"It's bad enough you had an accident but then running away from it, even worse!" said Berg.

"Driving crazy. Accelerating speed, using the empty street," said Anna Berg of San Jose.

Neighbors say street racing is something they see way too often along Hillsdale Avenue.

Iran Reyes of San Jose won't let her kids near the street alone.

"There's been accidents right in front of my house. There's a lot of drunk driving and it happens very often," said Reyes.

Two passengers remain hospitalized with serious injuries. The search continues for the two drivers.
