Fire crews are responding to an industrial plant in Vallejo on Monday afternoon where a 30,000-gallon tank containing liquid asphalt burst.

VALLEJO, Calif. -- Fire crews responded to an industrial plant in Vallejo Monday afternoon where, a 30,000-gallon tank containing liquid asphalt burst, fire officials said.

The tank at the Syar Industries plant at 885 Lake Herman Road ruptured around 2 p.m., leaking liquid asphalt, Vallejo fire Capt. Art Gonzalez said.

No injuries were reported and there is no threat to the public Gonzalez said.

The spill had been contained by 2:50 p.m. he said.

Solano County Environmental Health crews were also called to the scene.
