SAN JOSE (KGO) -- An 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murdering a 58-year-old woman last week in San Jose, a police spokesman said Tuesday.

Kevin Enamorando was arrested in connection with the homicide of transient Betty Jennings, who was found lying on a sidewalk in the 1100 block of North 15th Street around 2:20 a.m. on Friday, San Jose police spokesman Officer Albert Morales said.

Arriving officers found her unresponsive and face down with many visible injuries, he said.

She was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Morales.

An investigation indicated that Enamorando and Jennings were part of a group gathering in the area sometime that night when he beat her to death, Morales said.

Police learned Enamorando was sleeping in the area before the homicide, he said.

Enamorando, a transient, was arrested and booked into Santa Clara County Jail on suspicion of murder.
