LAS VEGAS (KGO) -- A UC Berkeley law school graduate got a lesson in the legal system on Monday when he was sentenced to four years of probation for beheading an exotic bird in Las Vegas.

Justin Teixeira, 25, of Placerville apologized for his actions and called it "the worst moment of my life."

Security video shows him chasing the bird with two other Cal students and wringing its neck in a habitat area at a Las Vegas resort.

Teixeira spent six months at a prison boot camp and now must perform 16 hours a month of community service at an animal shelter.
