A military helicopter was part of the Veterans Day parade festivities in Antioch on Tuesday.

Many events are scheduled around the Bay Area Tuesday to honor our nation's service members on Veterans Day.

The city of Antioch marked Veterans Day with a parade at 11 a.m. The celebration took place at the Marina with the parade starting at the base of L Street and continued down Second Street.

There were 30 entries, including floats, horses, bands, and classic cars all honoring our veterans.

In Marin County, a fleet of World War II era vintage planes did a flyover at the annual ceremony at the Marin Veterans Memorial Auditorium at 10 a.m.

Several speakers and bands also took part in the event. It was followed by a wreath-laying ceremony outside near the Avenue of the Flags.

A group of urban foresters honored local veterans by planting trees at the Veterans Administration facility in Menlo Park. The group called Canopy received help from local volunteers and vets to plant four new trees on the VA grounds.

Their crew also plans on caring for trees that have been planted in recent years. Organizers say trees bring benefits like shade. They also spruce up a place where many vets recover from the wounds of war.

One of the largest events in the Bay Area is always the Veterans Day observance that took place at 10:30 a.m. at Golden Gate National Cemetery in San Bruno.

There was also the annual memorial and wreath laying ceremony at the USS Hornet in Alameda that took place at 11 a.m.

Students who served in the military have a new resource at U.C. Berkeley this Veterans Day. They have a new Veterans Services center that officially opened on campus on Monday.

There are close to 300 student-veterans at U.C. Berkeley that now have a place on campus to get information and advice on the educational benefits they've earned through their military service.
