SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- San Francisco police have released surveillance video of a woman who allegedly robbed an 8-year-old girl outside a convenience store.

The girl and two other children were selling candy near Divisadero and Eddy streets in the city's Western Addition neighborhood around 1:45 p.m. Monday.

Police say the woman, described as being between 40 and 50 years old, didn't have enough money to buy beer so she walked out of the store.

Moments later, after the other children went inside the store and left the 8-year-old with the money, police say the woman twisted the girl's arm until the she dropped the bag of cash.

Detectives say the woman grabbed it and got away on a bus.

The girl wasn't hurt.

Neighbors are rallying to help the little girl, and one business owner is going door-to-door to ask others for cash to replace the kids' stolen money.
