Zoo agrees to safety measures following fatal lion mauling

FRESNO, Calif. (KGO) -- The state and an animal sanctuary have reached a deal requiring more safeguards after a deadly lion attack.

Back in March 2013, a lion attacked a volunteer at the Cat Haven Sanctuary near Fresno.

On Tuesday, the Animal Legal Defense fund says it helped broker a settlement in the legal battle between Cal/Osha and the operators of Cat Haven.

The animal park has agreed to install physical barriers between humans and large cats.

There will also be a standby keeper anytime somebody enters a large cat enclosure.

They will also be provide safety training for workers.
