It's been a few years since the death of Paul, the octopus who shot to meteoric fame with his incredible World Cup predictions in 2010.

With the master gone, the field to become the next great World Cup predicting animal is wide open. From a soccer-playing elephant to a pooping guinea pig, these animals have had various levels of success.

Based on group play predictions, though, it seems no one can replace Paul. Here are some of the most popular prognosticators, in increasing order of success percentage (counting ties as a possibility. After all, they don't have to choose). It seems predicting random games in more than just your group yields the best results, though predicting all the games (like Carly the chicken) brings the record back down a bit.
