SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- President Obama arrived in the Bay Area late Friday afternoon for political fundraising events. He was greeted by Senator Barbara Boxer and Congresswoman Anna G. Eshoo.

Drivers should be prepared for traffic snarls. Traffic was already an issue, before the President's arrival, traffic was already pretty painful in Downtown San Francisco.

Third and Howard streets were shut down for Salesforce.com's 'Dreamforce' convention, which took over Howard Street.

The president's first stop will be at the W Hotel for a Democratic fundraiser where tickets costs range from $500 to $32,000.

More street closures will mark his arrival.

Jonathan Poli, a commuter, is planning on heading home early.

"I'm getting out of town, I'm trying to wrap up my work and shoot to Marin," he said.

Police barricades are going up. Police are advising people to do themselves a favor and leave their cars at home.

"It's Friday in Downtown San Francisco. A lot of people will be in San Francisco for a busy weekend. If you're coming to the city, we ask that you to take public transportation, BART, buses or ferries," said San Francisco police spokesperson Albie Esparza.

The President will attend a Democratic National Convention round table fundraiser Saturday morning before heading back to Washington D.C.
