For people out today doing some last-minute shopping for that special person on your list, here are some helpful tips:

A couponing website, rather-be-shopping.com has cracked the code about deals at some favorite chains.

First up, Home Depot. The insider trick here is to look for items with a yellow price tag. Those are clearance items. Then, look even closer, prices ending with a .03 in the code mean three weeks until markdown, which is the chain's best deal.

At Target, look for price codes ending in these four numbers: .04, .24, .88 and .98 because those are clearance items.

And at Costco, the key is price codes with a .97 in the corner and it's even better if you find one with an asterisk.
