SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- One of the most dramatic stories of the Loma Prieta Quake was the rescue of Buck Helm.

The 58-year-old longshoreman spent 90 hours trapped in his car in the collapsed section of the Cypress Freeway in West Oakland.

The car is now on display at Ripley's Believe It Or Not in San Francisco.

It is amazing that anyone survived.

Helm lived for a month after being rescued, but died in the hospital of respiratory failure.

He was never able to tell his remarkable story.
