STANFORD, Calif. -- Stanford point guard Christian Sanders has been suspended indefinitely for a violation of team rules.

Coach Johnny Dawkins announced the suspension on Thursday before the Cardinal visited Arizona State. Dawkins says Sanders did not meet his "obligation to our program." Dawkins gave no more information for the suspension.

Sanders has started 24 of Stanford's 27 games this season. He has averaged 4.3 points and a team-best 2.6 assists.

A native of Houston, Texas, Sanders posted a career-best 10 assists in the win over No. 11 Oregon and scored a career-high 23 points in the victory over Green Bay in the season opener on Nov. 13.
