OAKLAND, Calif. (KGO) -- The Golden State Warriors are back in town after Tuesday night's win over the Cleveland Cavaliers. The team's plane landed in Oakland on Wednesday afternoon and the team was welcomed by some of their adoring fans.[br /][br /]PHOTOS: Warriors return to Oakland as NBA champs[br /][post ID="791412" /][br /][br /]Tonight the "W" stands not only for Warriors, but also for winners. League MVP Steph Curry walked off the Delta Airlines flight, hoisting the Larry O'Brien championship trophy. In what some called a David vs. Goliath battle, Curry and company beat LeBron James and the Cavs to become the NBA champs.[br /][br /]When asked when he realized that they had this, Curry said, "From day one. But you never know how the journey's gonna take place, so we just stuck to who we are."[br /][br /][facebook URL="https://www.facebook.com/abc7news/videos/10153422210717079/?permPage=1" /][br /]Curry says Tuesday night's celebration in Cleveland continued with a party on the plane.[br /][br /]"Guys listening to music, just talking about how fun the journey's been, and now we get ready to celebrate for real," he said.[br /][br /]Members of the Warriors' front office surprised the players with a rally on the tarmac.[br /][br /]ABC7 News spoke with Draymond Green, who had challenged himself and his team earlier in the season.[br /]"I wasn't being what I needed to be doing for my team," he said. "I knew in order for us to win, to have this moment, that I needed to be better."[br /][br /][post ID="788450" /][br /][br /]On Tuesday night he had a triple double, helping the team to victory.[br /][br /]Fans stood on the road outside the terminal, hoping to catch a glimpse of the champs. A fan named Ava brought her tiny dog dressed in Warriors gear.[br /][br /]"I'm so happy to be here," she said. "I'm so excited."[br /][br /]And the NBA champs are happy to be back home.[br /][br /]ABC7 has been proud to be your NBA Finals station, and count on us to continue bringing you your best coverage of the parade and rally.
