FALL RIVER, Mass. -- Lawyers for former New England Patriots player Aaron Hernandez are alleging sloppy police work in the murder investigation.

Hernandez is accused in the 2013 killing of Odin Lloyd, who was dating the sister of Hernandez's fiance.

During Tuesday's testimony, James Sultan, one of Hernandez's lawyers, asked North Attleborough officer John Grim why he saw a footprint at the scene but did not inform a detective who was taking photos about it. Grim said he did not have an answer for that.

A different detective, Michael Elliott, testified Tuesday that Hernandez came to the station late on the night of June 17, 2013, the date of Lloyd's death.

Elliott said he used a surveillance camera to videotape Hernandez outside the police station. The video shows Hernandez taking apart his cellphone while sitting in his lawyer's car then making calls on the lawyer's phone.

Prosecutors have said Hernandez was calling his co-defendant.

Jurors weren't told the phone belonged to his lawyer.
