SAN JOSE, Calif. (KGO) -- Off-duty San Jose police officers will longer be moonlighting at Levis stadium. The San Jose police department temporarily banned them from doing any security work for the 49ers and their players.

This announcement follows an ABC7 News report last week that a Sgt. who worked security for the team, received a personal call from 49er defensive tackled Ray McDonald, around the same time as a 9-1-1 call was placed from his home.

San Jose Police Chief Larry Esquivel emailed employees of the SJPD this statement: "Due to the complexities of the investigation, both criminally and administratively, we feel that it is in our best interest to suspend all San Francisco 49er secondary employment related assignments until further notice."

That officer responded to McDonald's house, even though he wasn't assigned to the case. Other officers arrested McDonald for domestic violence on his fiance.

Prosecutors haven't filed formal charges against McDonald the presence of that sergeant has complicated the investigation.
