Sheriff's deputies caught a carjacking suspect after a wild chase in Colorado.

DENVER (KGO) -- A carjacking suspect near Denver sent sheriff deputies on a wild chase Wednesday that unfolded in front of a television news crew.

A deputy stopped a man and a woman who were acting suspiciously while driving in Golden, Colorado. They took off when the deputy went to check out the driver's license information.

A chase ensued and at one point the man broke into a home and drove through the homeowner's closed garage door in order to steal the SUV inside.

After hitting a dead end, the armed driver ran onto Interstate 70 and tried to stop another car.

He eventually laid down his rifle but refused to surrender to authorities.

A deputy was able to finally grab him by his tank top and wrestled him to the ground. Another driver even jumped into the action, helping the deputy hold down the suspect's legs.
