First of three osprey chicks hatch in Virginia

RICHMOND, Va. (KGO) -- There was a moment of joy in Richmond, Virginia. The first of three osprey chicks hatched overnight and the action was captured by a live webcam.

The baby osprey emerged from its egg to grab a bite from its other. The chick is the first of three expected to hatch this week.

Thousands logged on to catch a glimpse of the action.

The mother osprey can be seen on the live stream sitting over her eggs for most of the day, keeping them warm and out of sight from predators.
