The voluntary check-off on the state tax form has been so successful that the Sea Otter Fund will remain on a list of good causes.
For the past two years, taxpayers have collectively donated more than $250,000 to help protect threatened sea otters. If donations fall below that figure, the cause is taken off the tax form in the following year.
