Scientists at Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York found chemotherapy drugs killed up to 70 percent fewer tumor cells in human cells treated with the vitamin supplement.
Tumors also grew more quickly in mice implanted with human cancer cells that were given vitamin C two hours before chemotherapy.
The study is published in the journal Cancer Research.
