PG&E customers can delay SmartMeter installation

The San Jose Mercury News reports utility officials say they are creating the temporary delay list to avoid ongoing friction with SmartMeter opponents who fear the wireless technology poses a health risk.

Last month, PG&&E proposed to the California Public Utilities Commission to offer customers a choice to opt-out of a SmartMeter for a monthly fee.

The temporary list is meant to address SmartMeter concerns until the commission makes its decision.
