As of this morning, 9,850 customers in Santa Cruz County, 1,000 customers in the East Bay, 570 customers in San Francisco, 350 customers in the South Bay and 20 customers on the Peninsula had no service, spokesman J.D. Guidi said.
No outages were reported in the North Bay as of 9 a.m., he said. Those numbers have fluctuated wildly over the past few days with the intensity of the storm, which has downed trees and disrupted transit service at times.
In the immediate Bay Area power has been restored to thousands over the past few days, utility officials said.
Strong winds that arrived Wednesday have knocked out power to 559,200 Northern and Central California customers altogether. Crews have restored power to 528,700 customers, leaving 30,500 customers out of power. Remaining outages are primarily in Santa Cruz and Tuolumne counties, officials said.
Customers in San Francisco can expect service to be restored by about 10 a.m., Guidi said, although he said that there was no estimated time of restoration for the outages in Santa Cruz.
Crews are working in the area and would be working throughout the day, he said.
"We should make progress throughout the day today," he said. "Due to the number of outages and the impact of the storm, we do not know when service will be restored."
