SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (KGO) -- Another record-breaking forecast has people with the day off putting beach chairs down in the Bay Area today. Don't get too comfortable, winter is returning soon.

The weather is perfectly timed for a fun day off although it's hard to get the drought out of people's heads. It's hard to believe it's mid-February -- no stomping through puddles in parking lots and no bundling up either. But even though the weather is comfortable, I think some people would feel more comfortable with some rain.

If this weather is for the birds, then the birds have it pretty good. High temperatures are 10-to-20 degrees above normal for this time of the year, making it a little bit easier to break a sweat on the Los Gatos Creek Trail.

"Going for a hike and it's beautiful weather," said Jennifer Dong, Los Gatos resident.

Many school districts are off this week for winter break, but winter is a little bit misleading today. With weather like this, 5th grader Jack Mellberg is spending his day off in the sun.

"I definitely like the warm weather because I get to play sports and stuff, so yeah, it's nice," said Mellberg.

Of course, enjoying warm weather isn't easy for people in the Bay Area to do. The drought is always a big concern, but some people say since they can't control the weather, they might as well enjoy this.

"I think when it rains we have to be cognizant of it and make sure we capitalize on keeping as much as we can. But when it's warm and beautiful and there's nothing you can do you just enjoy it," said Shelley Spray, Los Gatos resident.

"I'm just very worried about a lack of rain, but yeah, it's wonderful," said Bev Purkey, Monte Sereno resident.
