12-year-old boy shot in Bay Point in critical condition

BAY POINT, Calif. -- A 12-year-old boy who was wounded in a shooting in Bay Point on Wednesday night is in critical condition this morning, Contra Costa County sheriff's officials said.

Sheriff's officials reported the shooting on Twitter shortly before 11:30 p.m. and said it occurred on Weldon Lane. The boy was airlifted to UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland to be treated for his injuries, according to the sheriff's office.

He was in critical condition as of this morning, according to an update provided by the sheriff's office on Twitter.

No other information about the shooting was immediately available.
