Polarizing Breitbart figure to speak at UC Berkeley, Davis

BERKELEY, Calif. (KGO) -- A darling of political conservatives is causing a stir on two local college campuses.

An editor at the conservative news site Breitbart, is scheduled to speak at UC Berkeley and UC Davis.

Milo Yiannopoulos is an unlikely 31-year-old conservative hero.

He may be familiar because this summer Twitter permanently banned his account for his attacks on Ghostbusters actress Leslie Jones.

The Breitbart editor tours college campuses mocking political correctness.

Yiannopoulos is going on tour and is scheduled to speak at UC Berkeley on Feb. 1. Before that, he'll be at UC Davis on Jan. 13.

Davis students who oppose his appearance sent a letter to the university administration.

It says: The use of campus facilities and resources to host and therefore legitimize a white nationalist runs completely counter to the stated goals of the University of California and serves as a direct threat toward traditionally marginalized groups on campus.

There has been no response yet from either university.

Breitbart is now urging its readers to boycott Kellogg's after the brand stopped advertising on the site on the site over its values.

Breitbart's former chairman Steve Bannon is now a top adviser to President-elect Donald Trump.
