Rare corpse flower prepares to bloom at San Francisco Conservatory of Flowers

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- If you want to pay a visit to San Francisco Conservatory of Flowers, this is a great time to do it.

One of the conservatory's crown jewels -- an Amorphophallus titanium -- is sporting one of its rare flowers, which is expected to open fully on Tuesday.

The "corpse flower" is almost extinct in the wild and is a 10-foot-tall structure that smells like rotting flesh, according to conservatory officials.

The conservatory's titanium, nicknamed "Terra the Titan," last flowered in 2005.
