VIDEO: Hayward officer hopes to make fallen sergeant proud

OAKLAND, Calif. (KGO) -- Hayward Officer Justin Green, partner to fallen Sgt. Scott Lunger, became overcome with emotion at the memorial Thursday.

"Sgt. Scott Lunger was my mentor, my sergeant, my partner, and my brother," said Green. "Sgt. Lunger had a saying, 'warriors work at night.' I can only hope I've done him proud."

The memorial for the 15-year veteran of the force was held at Oracle Arena in Oakland, Calif. on Thursday, July 30, 2015. Law enforcement officers from across the country attended in honor of the fallen sergeant, who was shot and killed while conducting a traffic stop on July 22, 2015.
