IRONWOOD, Mich. -- Skier Sammy Carlson set a world record on the largest ski jump in the Western Hemisphere - and he did it backwards.

The 24-story jump at Copper Peak on Michigan's Upper Peninsula is known for helping skiers reach distances stretching over 500 feet.

It is set to host its first World Cup competition in 2017.
