What happens when weather people decide to name a winter storm after a Marvel character?

"Thor" is all over Twitter this week, though for two different reasons, and Jimmy Kimmel, Neil Patrick Harris and others are having some fun with double meaning.

In many parts of the country, especially in the west, Thor is the superhero who is one of the main characters in "The Avengers" franchise, which released a new trailer this week.

You know, that guy with the hammer you can visit at Disneyland.

On the east coast, though, "Thor" means something very different right now.

And since everyone is associating the storm with the character, weather people are all, inevitably, making the same joke, as Jimmy Kimmel pointed out.

With the montage Jimmy shows, you would think there was a secret weatherperson code that you aren't allowed to use any verb when talking about Thor except "hammer."

There's plenty of room to make other jokes, too, though.

"If Thor gets any stronger, it could be upgraded to a Thor-easter," Kimmel said.

And he's not the only one. People all over social media are finding humor in the storm name.
