ST. PAUL, Minn. (KGO) -- Music fans who attended a small concert in Minnesota were in for a huge surprise -- former Journey star Steve Perry picked up a microphone and started singing. He hasn't sang in public in almost 20 years.
YouTube video shows the 65-year-old performing for a thousand lucky fans in St. Paul during the second encore for the California alt-rock band Eels.
Perry first sang one of the Eels' songs. He then went on to sing a few Journey classics, including "Open Arms" and "Lovin Touchin Squeezin."
Perry, one of the most elusive frontmen in rock, hasn't done a solo show since 1995. He split from Journey four years before that.
But perhaps there's a comeback in the works. In 2010, Perry said he had more than 50 new songs waiting to be recorded at his home studio in Del Mar.
